8/31/2023 0 Comments Jim.stoppani shortcut to shredTo my absolute HORROR, I had returned to my exact same weight and body fat percentage as when I started. The result? Upon my return I measured my stats. During March I got a new job and was sent off to Vancouver for 3 weeks for training. ![]() ![]() The Shortcut to Shred was so ridiculously gruelling (seriously, not for the faint of heart, I can’t stress this enough…), I found the thought of shedding a further 4% body fat using this method to be rather demoralising. I went on to learn that you really need to cut to below 10% body fat if you want to truly see your abs. Well, that’s all well and good, but I still wasn’t satisfied with what I saw in the mirror. Most impressively, true to Stoppani’s word, I also managed to pack on an additional 3 kg of lean mass. I managed to drop body fat from 23% to 14%, removed 3.5″ from my waist circumference, and dropped 4.7 kg from my total body weight. After six gruelling weeks (and boy do I mean gruelling), I had undergone quite a transformation. The promise was to cut body fat and cut it fast! What’s more, Stoppani claims that users of this program will also make muscle gains alongside the fat loss. Nov-Dec: Kinobody Aggressive Fat Loss (14% BF -> 11.5% BF) // (70.3 kg -> 67.8 kg) // (31.75″ -> 30.6″)Įarly followers of my blog will know that I kicked 2014 off with Jim Stoppani’s ‘Shortcut to Shred’.Today, I thought I would review my year for you guys (with a progress pic to boot). Scrolling back to last year, I can see that I wanted to ‘progress to fitness by the end of 2014’. ![]() I wanted to write today as this blog began with a New Year’s resolution. However, with a year-long continuous fitness regimen, posting every week became a bit laborious. Apologies for this! My blog worked great while I was keeping track of my ‘Shortcut to Shred’ progress. It’s been a long time since I last posted.

8/31/2023 0 Comments Christopher amottMy goal is as always to reach as many people as possible with our music. We are already writing the second album, we’ll be recording it next year along with touring as much as we can. I’m hoping to grow Armageddon into whatever it can be. We’ll be touring extensively next year, starting in the US in February and then coming to Europe. Will that change now that you’re based in the US?Ĭhristopher Amott: This is definitely a full-time thing for me now. Was that intentional?Ĭhristopher Amott: No, absolutely not.Īrmageddon was never known to be a touring band or active band. It’s almost the same color scheme as the ‘70s Armageddon. And then he just presented the finished work to us, that was it! We trusted him and knew he would produce something great. We gave him the lyrics and asked him to paint what he would envision Armageddon to be like. Tell us about the cover art to Captivity & Devourment.Ĭhristopher Amott: That is the creation of italian oil painter Paolo Girardi. This is just metal the way I want to hear it and write it. Musically, how would you describe Captivity & Devourment?Ĭhristopher Amott: I guess it’s a bit of everything stylistically, death, thrash, power, black… but I don’t think in terms of genres like that when I write, no musician does. What do you say to people expecting you to make an Arch Enemy record? Some might not know Armageddon’s origins.Ĭhristopher Amott: To Arch Enemy fans I want to say that this album contains in my opinion some of my best guitar work to date, and I hope they will check it out. We have shot a music video for that one which will be released in early January. Is there a song on Captivity & Devourment that holds a special place in your heart?Ĭhristopher Amott: I think the song “Fugitive Dust” turned out very well arrangement and lyric-wise. Where does Captivity & Devourment fit with the band’s trajectory?Ĭhristopher Amott: I would say that this album has the best elements of all three previous albums combined. Finally I met Márton in NYC, he is from Hungary and used to play in classic Hungarian band Pokolgep.Īrmageddon didn’t stick to a single style across its discography. The hardest part was finding a drummer, we tried out three different players who didn’t fit before deciding to have a guy by the name of Nick Bunczk do the album as a session player. He brought our singer Matt into the project, they are from the same area in Connecticut and have played shows locally together with their old bands. Like me, he is a blues-based player and can improvise freely and that’s the most important thing for me in a another guitarist. I met our guitar player Joey through giving guitar lessons, he was a student of mine for a short period. She writes the majority of the lyrics in Armageddon, and also contributes to the music. Who are the new players in Armageddon and where did you find them?Ĭhristopher Amott: Well, Sara I’ve known for years, she is a guitar player originally but offered to play bass in Armageddon. Lead single “Fugitive Dust” is reason alone to consider Amott (sans Amott) as one of extreme metal’s brightest hopefuls. With Armageddon active again, Amott wrote, recorded, and released Captivity & Devourment with his new band. Amott, busy with Arch Enemy, put Armageddon on ice. Over the next few years, Armageddon morphed band members and sound on albums Embrace the Mystery and Three. ![]() They recorded and released debut album, Crossing the Rubicon, at the height of the New Wave Of Swedish Death Metal. Actually, Armageddon stretches back to 1997 when the group then comprised of Amott, vocalist Jonas Nyrén (In Thy Dreams), drummer Peter Wildoer (Darkane), and bassist Martin Bengtsson (Arch Enemy). ![]() He left Arch Enemy, relocated to the US, and reactivated (in a way) his own band Armageddon with a new lineup and, to a degree, a new sound. Well, the younger Amott wasn’t having any of it. He was in an internationally recognized metal band. ** Most thought Christopher Amott crazy for leaving Arch Enemy a second time. 8/31/2023 0 Comments Andis trimmer shells![]() I’ve adjusted several blades throughout barber school as well as in the barber shop, but that doesn’t mean I’m a pro! So don’t just dive in and move your blades around without proper research and testing it on yourself. ![]() If they’re adjusted and are cutting smoothly straight on, but a slight 15* change in angle may still be cutting too close to the skin. This is the results of a trimmer that’s poorly adjusted and pressed too deeply into a clients nape! This is something you don’t want! You need to take note of both the teeth overlapping or not, as well as the angle you’d hold the clipper post-adjustment. This is a customer that came in to get his haircut fixed and have what the fuck happened to him figured out! This was his first haircut in America! That’s not how it should be done… Here’s his haircut post Rebel Rouser… Note: This isn’t my haircut nor my mistakes. Since I did adjust my blades, it does mean the moving blade is that much closer to the clients skin! If you’re looking to adjust your liners in the same manner that I did, be careful! If you aren’t cautious, you’ll potentially leave a client with a neckline like this: We’ll play things out and see how it goes! While I don’t mind the way the stock deep-toothed blade cuts, I feel that I’d be a bit more satisfied with a slightly adjusted blade. Having moved the blade forward, I’ve gotten cleaner and more consistent linings. Since it doesn’t have the deeper teeth, the feed of hair is very short and not very precise. On my grey T-liners, I’ve adjusted the blade so that the moving blade sits up closer to the stationary blade. I find the strokes to be a lot more powerful and consistent… something a female has yet to tell me… Sigh… in due time… But, sometimes, the strength of the motor isn’t always the case… Sometimes you gotta go in DEEP! Yet another thing a female has yet to tell me… Sigh… in another lifetime, I suppose… (As well as blade adjustments, of course, but that’s a post its own.) This is why you’ll typically see 2-3 of this style trimmer at a barbers station. If you’re new and are taking your time when cleaning the outline of a haircut, check the heat of the blade so you aren’t searing your client by the time you switch sides. And if you’ve read my first clipper review, you’ll know my stance on rotary motor clippers! But, magnetic motor trimmers do get hotter, and quicker, so take that into consideration. Personally, I’ve preferred the cut of magnetic motored trimmers as opposed to the rotary motored trimmers Wahl offers. The reason I’m more inclined to use this type of trimmer as opposed to Wahl, is because of the motor. And paired with a powerful magnetic motor, you’ll get just that! This is supposed to allow a better/cleaner feed of hair through to the cutting blade, which is supposed to cut longer hairs a lot smoother without leaving such a blunt cut. While identical in-terms of T-blade or square blade, the teeth on the stationary blade is a lot deeper on the GTX blade. One difference you’ll notice between the normal liner and the GTX Liner is the blade. The GTX is part of their Experience line, which has very slight yet noticeable differences between the general line and the Experience line.īody wise: They are identical in every which way… There’s also the Outliner II which has the square blade, but I’ve gotten used to maneuvering the corners of the T-blade well enough, that I’m not in dire-need of the square blade. The typical T-Outliner you’ll find in stores or online is the one with the grey body and maroon flip switch. But, today we’re focusing on the T-Outliners, so let’s stick to it! While I do have some by Wahl, I end up using my trimmers from Andis a whole lot more often and have several kinds. Chances are, if your barber isn’t using an Andis adjustable clipper or detachable, they’re definitely using one of their liners! From my short, yet, pretty consistent career in barbering, I’ve found my preference in trimmers to be with Andis. Every link is linked to a product that I, myself, have purchased and used personally as well as professionally.Īndis is definitely one of the top brands used by barbers. This post will include Affiliate Marketing links in which I may receive a small commission for qualifying purchases. What are the exact differences? Keep reading to find out! So next up, I’ll be reviewing one of the most popular trimmers by Andis, the T-Outliner, as well as the GTX version. Pretty damn helpful, if I do say so myself… In addition to my first clipper review, I figured instead of reviewing another clipper right off the bat, I’d review a trimmer, so the up-and-coming barbers have a better idea as to the variations of tools they’ll need. ![]() But on the whole, it’s right in the ballpark with other 120W(ish) NVIDIA cards, with power consumption at the wall for the entire testbed not exceeding 200W.įor the midrange segment, the GTX 1660 Super (and the GTX 1660 Ti) are the cards to beat when it comes to power consumption and efficiency. With its 125W TGP, the GTX 1660 Super draws ever so slightly more power than either the GTX 1660 Ti or the GTX 1660, particularly in Tomb Raider where the CPU gets a bit more of a workout as well. Shifting to power consumption, our results are in line with NVIDIA’s specifications, as well as what we’d expect for yet another TU116 card. Even under The Division 2, average clockspeeds beat the spec by 60MHz, and in other games It’s more frequently 75 to 90MHz above. In any case, the GTX 1660 Super once again comes in well ahead of NVIDIA’s official boost clock specifications. In this case it’s a tradeoff we’re glad to take, since as we’ve just seen, the extra memory bandwidth on the GTX 1660 Super more than makes up for any clockspeed deficit, launching the Super card well ahead of its GDDR5-based predecessor. Even with NVIDIA’s slightly higher TDP, our GTX 1660 Super card sees a very slight drop in clockspeeds, typically coming in one bin (15MHz, or under-1%) below the original card. ![]() The situation with clockspeeds is also very similar, though not entirely a carbon copy of the GTX 1660 (vanilla). ![]() 1.05v is essentially a universal limit for NVIDIA Turing GPUs at stock, while the idle voltage of 0.618v is a bit lower than what we’ve seen on other TU116 cards thus far. Using the same TU116 GPU as the GTX 1660 Ti and the GTX 1660 (vanilla0, the voltages are unsurprisingly similar. While a high performing card is good in its own right, an excellent card can deliver great performance while also keeping power consumption and the resulting noise levels in check. Last, but not least of course, is our look at power, temperatures, and noise levels. 8/31/2023 0 Comments Southern blot test results exampleAlthough it was published later the technique was disseminated when Southern introduced the Southern blot technique to a scientist at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory called Michael Mathews by drawing this technique on a paper. Southern blot was invented in 1973 but it was not published until 1975. The third innovation is blotting-through methods which was developed by Frederick Sanger, when he transferred RNA molecules to DEAE paper. The second innovation is the gel electrophoresis that based on separation of mixtures of DNA, RNA, or proteins according to molecular size, which was also developed at Johns Hopkins University by Daniel Nathans and Kathleen Danna in 1971. Kenneth and Noreen Murray introduced this technique as Southern. Southern invented Southern blot after combining three innovations, the first one is the restriction endonucleases which were developed at Johns Hopkins University by Tom Kelly and Hamilton Smith, those restriction endonucleases are used to cut the DNA at a specific sequence. The names for other blotting methods may follow this convention, by analogy. As the label is eponymous, Southern is capitalized, as is conventional of proper nouns. Other blotting methods (i.e., western blot, northern blot, eastern blot, southwestern blot) that employ similar principles, but using RNA or protein, have later been named for compass directions as a sort of pun from Southern's name. The method is named after the British biologist Edwin Southern, who first published it in 1975. The Southern blotting combines the transfer of electrophoresis-separated DNA fragments to a filter membrane in a process called blotting, and the subsequent fragment detection by probe hybridization. The tag allows any DNA fragments containing complementary sequences with the DNA probe sequence to be visualized within the Southern blot. The DNA fragments are transferred out of the gel or matrix onto a solid membrane, which is then exposed to a DNA probe labeled with a radioactive, fluorescent, or chemical tag. Briefly, purified DNA from a biological sample (such as blood or tissue) is digested with restriction enzymes, and the resulting DNA fragments are separated by using an electric current to move them through a sieve-like gel or matrix, which allows smaller fragments to move faster than larger fragments. This method is used in molecular biology. ![]() Southern blot is a method used for detection and quantification of a specific DNA sequence in DNA samples. 8/31/2023 0 Comments My favorite teacherThe show is the best way to end your day while having dinner and a glass of wine and letting all the stress out while you watch Gomez learn how to make a French omelette or pan-seared scallops or whatever. It’s almost like you’re with Gomez in the kitchen, helping her cook and learning alongside her. But, there’s just something about Selena + Chef that makes it the perfect show to wind down with. The last reason that I really want to talk about – and something that makes me love the show the most – is that it’s just relaxing.ĭon’t get me wrong, I do love cooking competition shows that feature crazy dramatic moments, from the intensity of Top Chef to the surprising moments in Hell’s Kitchen and so many others. (Image credit: Max) It’s So Relaxing That It’s The Best Cooking Show To Wind Down With If she ended up just moving past it with a smile on her face, so could I, you know? When I watched Gomez cook, however, and saw her make some of the same mistakes, I wouldn’t feel so bad. I was always so down on myself for making a mistake and would beat myself up for hours on end. When the series originated, this was essential for me as a first-time cook. They aren’t edited out to make things flow better, or to show Gomez on top of her game the whole time – in fact, it’s the most honest, human show, because she willingly shows how much she messes up sometimes. She’s encouraged to make mistakes because she genuinely wants to be better, and we see those mistakes. But, with Selena + Chef, all of that takes a backseat, because it really is all about her trying to learn how to cook. That’s certainly the case with many Gordon Ramsay shows and other cooking programs. Every little technical mistake is something that could drastically change their chances of winning or doing well in a promotion or whatever the case may be. They usually feature professionals, working in the background or showing just how much skill they have.
